About this event
"Get Your Abstract On"
When you look at Abstract art have you ever wondered what it is all about? Why do we need abstract art? What draws people to this type of art? How does one create an abstract painting?
Abstract art is not random, there is plenty of planning, composition and color theory used in its creation, although abstract artists are free in their movements. You will be using larger paint brushes, palette knives and even old credit cards to create your masterpiece.
Have you ever thought, "I wish I could be more loose and more free in my art"? This 2-day workshop is for people just like you who are drawn to, and would like to explore the creation of, abstract art. Pam Plummer and Gabrielle Bitter will teach you several different approaches to creating an abstract work of art, including how to collect and use visual ideas, techniques used in abstract art, and how you can push out of your comfort zone.
This is not a workshop to provide you with a formula for creating an abstract-style painting, rather it is to learn that Abstraction is an approach, an attitude.....not a style.
Pam & Gabrielle will teach you ideas and concepts, ways to use and build your abstract piece, and at the end of the two-day workshop, you will have an abstract work that you will be proud of.
All materials, including large sheets of paper, acrylic paints, collage papers, brushes, tools, ink, and oil pastels will be provided. You may want to bring an apron, and lunch to enjoy at the midday break.
"Pam and Gabrielle's abstract class was fun! I entered the world of abstract painting totally free of expectations. I found the challenge so refreshing, renewing and surprising in that the creativity felt endless. It was an all-absorbing adventure in the use of colors, texture!"
