Exciting News!

The preliminary phase of our Build a Dream project is complete, and on June 24th we officially moved into the construction phase of our remodel! This is a major milestone and an exciting step forward for WAC.

Construction Phase Overview

Financial Update

Thanks to the generosity of our members—and a remarkable $60,000 donation from Lynn Tagge—WAC has reached the original funding goal needed to begin construction!

Update 8/4/26: As often happens with the renovation of a historic building, demolition revealed years of hidden repairs, structural modifications, and construction issues that needed to be addressed to meet current building codes. While these discoveries required additional work, they have also given us a much clearer picture of the building's needs. Our contractor now has a solid plan in place, and we believe most of the unexpected surprises are behind us.

Although these necessary improvements have increased the cost of the project, we are closer than ever to the finish line. We now need to raise an additional $25,000 to complete the renovation and create the safe, functional, and welcoming Art Center our members deserve.

To help close that gap, we have:

  • Applied for grants
  • Continued planning Masquerade, our fundraiser in partnership with K-9 Konnection
  • Created a project Wish List (see list to the right)
  • Identified several desirable upgrades that can be postponed if necessary
  • Continued accepting donations from members and supporters

Wish List
One person's unneeded item could become an important part of our new space!

Refrigerator

If you or someone you know is remodeling a kitchen or replacing a refrigerator, we'd be happy to give the old one a new home.

Art Supply Storage Cabinets

Need to clear out your garage or studio? We are looking for large storage cabinets to hold classroom art supplies.

Reception Desk

Do you have an unused desk, counter-height workstation, or high credenza that could serve as a reception desk in our new vestibule?

Paint & Painting Supplies

To help control costs, some WAC members will be handling the painting. Donations of brushes, rollers, painter's tape, paint trays, drop cloths, or even a paint sprayer would be greatly appreciated.

Industry Connections

Do you have contacts in construction, flooring, cabinetry, furniture, metalwork, paint, or other related trades? Leads on discounted, donated, overstock, or surplus materials could make a significant difference.

Stay Tuned!

As construction progresses, we'll share updates, photos, and milestones in upcoming editions of Artifacts, WAC's weekly electronic newsletter.

In the meantime, if you have questions, please contact any member of the Build a Dream Committee.

And most importantly:

We need your help to finish what we started.

The Wickenburg Art Center is more than a building. It is a place where friendships are formed, creativity is encouraged, skills are shared, and people come together through a love of art. It belongs to all of us, and its future depends on all of us.

Every donation—large or small—moves us one step closer to opening the doors to a beautiful new Wickenburg Art Center that will serve artists and our community for generations to come. Thank you for believing in this vision and for standing with us throughout this journey. Together, we have built this dream. Together, we will finish it.

Check Out Our Dreamy New Plan!

This blueprint of our proposed Building A Dream plan shows how we'll expand useable space within the existing Wickenburg Art Club building. Dotted areas on the blueprint to the left highlight the expanded space we'll all enjoy.

By maximizing our existing footprint, we'll add significant space to our classroom, meeting area and clay room, creating a more welcoming, functional, and inspiring space for members, artists and visitors.

Enhancements include:

  • Reclaiming underutilized kitchen space, while still retaining a kitchenette with sink, refrigerator, and microwave
  • Utilizing the reclaimed kitchen space to expand both the clay room and classroom areas significantly
  • Eliminating the existing storage closet and replacing it with enclosed storage units in the expanded classroom
  • Enclosing a portion of the front patio area to create a new vestibule area
  • Creating more space and time for creativity, learning, and community

Please donate today to make Building A Dream a reality!
