Welcome to the Wickenburg Art Club – 2017 is our 53nd Year!
- To stimulate and encourage creative works in the arts.
- To provide educational opportunities for members to develop further in artistic skills and appreciation.
- To promote and enrich community-wide awareness of local art talent and activities
Organized in 1964 and incorporated in 1981, the Wickenburg Art Club has a membership of approximately 200 artists and supporters of the arts. By owning its own facility, the Wickenburg Art Center, WAC can provide for its members a collegial atmosphere for learning new techniques and for both enjoying art and the process of creating art. Our artists are interested in various visual arts, and we have members juried in thirty-one different media, including oil and acrylic painting, watercolor, sculpture, ceramics, stained glass, mosaic art, photography, drawing, jewelry, mixed media, digital media, textiles, basketry, wood and wood turning, basketry, polymer clay, pastels, weaving and other fine arts. WAC members donate their time and use their talents to enhance a wide variety of services to our community and the surrounding area.

If it’s been a while since you’ve stopped by the Wickenburg Art Center, you are in for a big (and pleasant) surprise! We have been totally revamped inside and out.
The face of the building continues to sport our logo of the cowboy boot, hat and artist’s palette, which is a great representation of what we’re about….the marriage of the southwest and art! But not everyone knew what WAC stood for, so we’ve added Wickenburg Art Center to the wall.
Continuing on the outside tour, you’ll notice that instead of several different textures and finishes to walk on up to the door, we now have a cohesive entry and patio of beautiful flagstone. Also, a railing will add some charm to the upper patio. We now have a new and impressive parking lot – beautiful to see as well as park on. The parking lot has 14 parking spaces, and there is plenty of on-street parking available. There are two bathrooms on the premises. The Center has both air conditioning and heating. The newly painted exterior has two patios. The upper patio is a perfect place to sit, talk or sketch. The lower patio, just outside our front door, has seating for two or three to enjoy the Wickenburg weather.
Then we walk in the familiar doors and are met by an unfamiliar sight…..color! Instead of boring white walls we are now graced with color on the walls in the Main Gallery that provide a dramatic backdrop to our art. The interior Gallery has been painted in a color that best shows off our hanging works.
In the Studio Gallery, the color is soothing and conducive to working and learning as we invite visiting artists to teach us techniques in our monthly classes. The classroom portion of the Center can hold tables and chairs to seat up to 60 people. We also have standing panels on which art may be mounted for display. WAC can supply table cloths for dining or meeting purposes, and plastic coverings for times when “art” is going on.
The clay room, kitchen, restrooms and the office/library have also gotten a face-lift. In the Clay Room, there is a potter’s wheel, two kilns and a clay roller for working with slabs of clay, as well as a wash-up sink. Our kitchen is sufficiently large to allow space for serving potluck dinners and our special events.
Bottom line: We have a place to create and display works of art that is in keeping with the talent in this club!
